The Debt Ceiling Distraction

Why Can't Congress, Nor The President Solve the Nation's Monetary or Fiscal Dilemma?

In fact, however, very few people could correctly define a "dollar." And even fewer know why a correct definition is vital to their continued economic and political well-being.

How To Interpret The Put Call Ratio?

There are 2 main ways to interpret the Put Call Ratio. First, it is taken widely to be a "Panic Meter" where a higher reading suggests panic in the market as investors rush into put options. Second, it is taken to be a contrarian indicator which points to major reversals in the market.

The  Fed has been conducting yet another stealthy foreign bank rescue operation, which rerouted $600 billion in capital from potential borrowers to insolvent foreign financial institutions in the past 7 months. QE2 was nothing more (or less) than another European bank rescue operation!

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Palladium prices continue to climb, or at least stay steady as gold and silver and other metals pull back from the strength in the dollar.   The great thing about palladium is that it does not seem to have the downside volatility as other assets in its class. Platinum is overvalued relative to Palladium, which is about 20 times more rare than gold.  My official target on the Price of Palladium in the future is...

The Oliver Twist - Operation Twist 2

This was otherwise known as 'operation twist'. There is certainly nothing preventing the Fed from targeting the 10-year Treasury-note any more than the Fed funds rate. But the funds rate is already near zero and as such there is no incremental move there that can benefit the economy. But targeting the 10-year note in much the same fashion is probably worth a try.
